Beit means “house” in Hebrew. Across Jewish history, the house has represented far more than a physical structure. It is a place of learning and argument, belonging and responsibility—a space in which ideas are tested, traditions are carried forward, and new possibilities are imagined.
Beit AI is Milken Community School’s house for inquiry into artificial intelligence.
Rooted in Milken’s mission to educate children who will surpass us, the initiative brings Jewish thought into conversation with one of the most consequential technologies of our time. It gives students, educators, and families the knowledge and language to explore AI as a powerful tool, a disruptive force, and an ethical frontier.
Our purpose is not to offer simple answers about a technology that continues to change. It is to ask better questions.

Beit AI is Milken's Signature Initiative dedicated to exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence, Jewish wisdom, and human-centered education. It serves as a home for faculty learning, student engagement, parent education, institutional research, and public thought leadership, helping our community navigate emerging technologies with intellectual curiosity, ethical responsibility, and educational purpose.
Jewish tradition offers a powerful framework for this work. For thousands of years, Jewish learning has embraced questioning, disagreement, interpretation, and ethical reflection as essential parts of intellectual life. Rather than treating uncertainty as a problem to solve, Judaism often invites us to inhabit complexity with humility and responsibility.
How should intelligent systems be designed and used? What responsibilities accompany their power? What becomes possible when machines participate in activities we once considered uniquely human? And how do we ensure that innovation serves human dignity rather than erodes it?
Jewish tradition equips us for this work. Its practices of close reading, interpretation, disagreement, and moral reasoning invite us to confront complexity rather than turn away from it. Through Beit AI, those practices help our community examine emerging technologies with intellectual openness, ethical courage, and a profound sense of responsibility.
